Virtual Workshops for High Schoolers

Our Academic Coaching team is hosting virtual workshops for high school students. Join us to sharpen skills for academic success! Workshops are $100 or free for students enrolled in our Academic Coaching program.

Our Study Skills Workshop introduces students to the ideas, methods, and strategies that it takes to study effectively. In this workshop, students will learn and practice study methods that they can incorporate into their academic lives. The course is intended to sharpen the learning skills of students and help them become more independent.

Writing Workshop

This writing workshop breaks down the writing process and helps prepare students for longer writing assignments in the upcoming school year. We will talk about tips and tricks to stay organized, get started, and maintain momentum when tackling writing projects. The objective of this workshop is to make writing feel less intimidating and more manageable for students.

Note Taking Workshop

This workshop focuses on teaching students different note taking methods that they can use in the classroom. Students will be introduced to note taking styles, practice and critique note taking. The objective of this course is to improve students’ note taking skills so they are prepared to use them in school. 

Communication and Self-Advocacy Workshop

This workshop focuses on helping students build confidence in their ability to communicate effectively and advocate for themselves. Students will learn strategies for clear verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and expressing their needs in academic settings. The course also emphasizes the development of self-efficacy. Through discussion and practice, students will leave with tools to communicate with confidence and take greater ownership of their learning experience.

  • Located in Madison, WI? We can meet with your student in our office or virtually!

Transition to College Workshop

This 1:1 program will provide students with the academic and executive functioning skills necessary to be successful during their first college semester and beyond. Students will learn the systems, tools, tricks, and campus resources that they can use to excel in both their academic and extracurricular lives. The workshop will focus heavily on time management and planning strategies.

Cost: $250 / Duration: One 2-hour meeting

College Study Skills Workshop

In this 1:1 workshop, students will learn about the study cycle, spaced repetition, and an array of effective study methods that they can incorporate into their academic lives. Students will leave ready to confidently prepare for their college exams.

Cost: $125 / Duration: 75 minutes

College Lecture Note Taking Workshop

Students will explore various methods for organizing and recording effective college lecture notes. They will learn the importance of note taking and its impact on effective studying. During this 1:1 session with an expert educator, rising college freshmen will practice note taking and get feedback on their work.

Cost: $125 / Duration: 75 minutes

College Textbook Reading Workshop

In this 1:1 workshop, students will learn to successfully engage with college level textbooks to boost comprehension and retention. They will explore systems to organize their notes, learn different reading and skimming styles, practice taking notes, and then analyze their notes with an expert educator.
