Based in Tallahassee, Florida State University’s welcoming campus is located on the oldest continuous site of higher education in Florida. It has a community that fosters free inquiry and embraces diversity, has championship athletics, and is in a prime location in the heart of the state capital.

Academics

FSU is a comprehensive degree-granting university, offering baccalaureate degrees in 88 programs, master’s degrees in 102 programs, advanced master’s/specialist degrees in 19 programs, doctorates in 67 programs, and two professional degrees. The university offers fully accredited programs in both law (J.D.) and medicine (M.D.). The most popular majors at FSU include criminal justice, psychology, English, biology and finance.

Social Life

About 90% of FSU students come from Florida although the student body represents 50 states and 100 countries. Approximately 19% of students live on campus. FSU has a vibrant Greek Life and is home to 55 fraternities and sororities. The Seminoles are one of the nation’s top schools athletically in Division 1 and compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).


Environment

FSU is near the Georgia border in the Florida Panhandle which is the northwestern part of the state. FSU is about two and a half hours from Jacksonville, and less than four hours from Orlando. FSU’s 1391 acre campus is beautiful with orange brick buildings. Two of the major campus highlights include the Wescott Building (famous fountain and Ruby Diamond Auditorium), plus Doak Campbell Stadium.

And one more thing…

FSU has won three national championships in football. It’s storied football tradition was recently highlighted by a title led by quarterback Jameis Winston who went on to be the first pick in the NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
