In May and June, Galin Education is joining up with our community partners to sponsor several virtual educational events, including a free virtual screening of the film Screenagers NEXT Chapter. Scroll down to register for our various events!

Screenagers: Next Chapter – Virtual Screening on Thursday, May 21 @ 7PM

Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience is a film that examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges.

Screenagers: Growing up in the Digital Age—Delany Ruston’s award-winning 2016 film—was the first feature documentary to explore the impact of screen technology on kids and offer parents and families proven solutions. In this free showing of Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER, we follow Delaney as she finds herself at a loss on how to help her own teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing. She sets out to understand these challenges in our current screen-filled society, and how we, as parents and educators, can empower teens to overcome mental health challenges and build emotional agility, communication savvy, and stress resilience.

Our Follow-Up Discussions are listed below. You will be able to RSVP for your intended discussion when you register for the Screenagers screening.

Spark! Middleton Follow-Up Session

Tuesday, May 26th from 6:30 – 7:30PM

SPARK’s debrief will be led by Kristin Voss, one of SPARK’s Coordinators and an AP Psychology teacher with a specific interest in mental heath. This debrief will be open to any MCPASD family, especially those who have children with IEPs or 504s who want to process some of the themes discussed in Screenagers, Next Chapter. We will particularly focus on the coping strategies and practical suggestions we can use with our kids when they are facing anxious or depressing moments and episodes. In addition, we will discuss the concept of co-regulation and how important it is for us to take care of ourselves as parents in order to support our children’s mental health.
