1. Career growth:
UW-La Crosse offers many unique ways for students across disciplines to build skills and experience while exploring their future careers. Highlights include an internship program with local and national employers, “community engaged learning” courses that interact with community members and businesses, and a unique collaboration with locally headquartered Kwik Trip through the Integrated Core Program. Students in the ICP take academic courses as a cohort while also completing applied business projects meant to provide real-world problem solving experience and exposure to the fields of marketing, management, and finance.
2. Research opportunities:
With a large concentration of students in health science and related majors, La Crosse also offers ways for undergraduates to participate in research across fields. Students can take advantage of the campus’s partnered research with the Mayo Clinic Health System or apply to present at the yearly Research and Creativity Symposium. UWL also hosts the Eagle Apprentice program, in which selected freshmen work closely with faculty members on their research and other projects. Eagle Apprentices earn a stipend, experience, and mentorship.
3. Beyond the classroom:
But UWL isn’t all business! The campus recently opened a brand-new fieldhouse to host its 21 DIII sports teams. Along with involvement in 200 student organizations, 80% of UWL students participate in rec sports programming.
