College Admissions Counseling

The college admissions process is more like a marathon than a sprint.

It requires meticulous planning, a well-developed strategy, and hard work – all with the goal of getting parents and students across the finish line together.

The Galin Method: Comprehensive College Counseling

The undergraduate application process is a daunting task. We get it. The process for getting into a top-tier college is even more complex. That’s why we developed and embody The Galin Method. We help students and parents navigate the college application process from start to finish.  Our advisors clearly explain the step-by-step process, advise on early decision applications, craft the perfect personal statement, and refine supplemental essays. How? Through one-on-one counseling, workshops, coaching, parent chats, test prep, and everything in between. We help students and parents answer every question, big and small, because we know that during this time, every question is important.

Before Applying

We know that carrying a full schedule of extra-curricular activities, achieving the highest possible GPA, and trying to stand out in a crowded applicant pool is demanding. That’s why our highly-trained staff of college admissions advisors works one-on-one with high school students to determine which courses and activities will get them into their dream college and to help them achieve their long-term goals. Before application season, our college admissions advisors:

  • Analyze high school transcripts, recommend courses, and review standardized test scores
  • Assist in planning outside activities including clubs, athletics, and volunteer opportunities
  • Develop a timeline for standardized tests, recommendation letters, and applications

During Application Season

All of the hard work in and out of the classroom pays off during this phase as students complete their applications with confidence. When it’s time to apply to the dream school, our team is there to determine the best timelines and strategies. With our inside knowledge of the undergraduate admissions process and a customized plan in place, we set students up for success. Throughout the application season, our college admissions advisors:

  • Advise on schools based on the student’s strengths and long-term goals
  • Help set up and prepare for interviews
  • Help students brainstorm, draft, and proofread their application essays

After Applying

Opening the first acceptance letter is a moment students never forget. It’s a time to celebrate their years of hard work leading up to this moment. But, there is still some important work to be done and important questions to answer. We’re here to make this final leg of the journey as painless as possible so students can excitedly and confidently make the right decision. During the final phase, our team is right there to:

  • Help navigate waitlist and deferral strategies
  • Offer negotiation techniques
