Rachel H.

Tutor

  • UW – Madison, BS, Chemistry and Neurobiology

Rachel is a proud Madison native who stayed close to home for her education, earning her degree in Chemistry and Neurobiology from UW-Madison. While she wasn’t exactly sure which career path she’d take, she knew her interests lay at the intersection of research, biotechnology, and healthcare. She is aiming to apply to medical school in Spring of 2025.

During her time at UW-Madison, Rachel honed her teaching skills as an organic chemistry tutor and gained valuable research experience as a research assistant at the Center for Healthy Minds, where she worked on a study that compared the structural and functional brain differences between novice and long-term meditators. Today, she works as a Production Scientist at Promega, where she manufactures oligonucleotides in the organic chemistry lab for genetic testing kits. Her journey also includes patient care experience in hospitals and clinics, giving her a well-rounded perspective on both science and its practical applications in healthcare.

Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge from her experiences in academia, industry, and healthcare. She’s excited to support students not only in mastering their coursework but also in exploring career paths in these fields. Whether you’re tackling chemistry or curious about what it’s like to work in a lab, Rachel is able to provide guidance and share her expertise.

When she’s not in the lab or helping students, Rachel loves playing volleyball, spending quality time with friends and family, and steadily working her way through a bucket list that seems to grow faster than she can check things off.
