AP (Advanced Placement) tests are only 12 weeks away, and now is the time to start preparing. Over the years, we have found that the students that start their AP test review in early February, have the most success on the test. That means that right now, even though it seems early, is the best time to get started. It allows students the opportunity to have between 10 and 12 tutoring sessions if they meet with a tutor once per week.
What can my student do to prepare?
Students should be working outside of school to learn new content and review what they learned previously. It’s hard to predict from school to school how much work each student needs to be doing. Galin Education has tutors available for most AP subjects and can help prioritize the content that needs to be covered. In most cases our tutoring sessions are 1:1 but if your student has a group of friends/classmates they want to learn with, we can set that up too.
How will the exams be given?
Tests are given over a 2 week period, there is a set date and time for each test. This year the exams will be administered May 2-6 and May 9-13.
What is the format for the tests?
Each test has its own format and requirements. Most exams are 2–3 hours long. The first part is usually multiple-choice questions and the second part is typically free-response in the form of an essay, a solution to a problem, or a spoken response.
